Who we are as a “Church of Christ”
The church of Christ is a non-denominational movement, which we believe is the pattern seen among Christ’s church in the New Testament. The first churches consisted of the people of Christ, not buildings or labels. Although there are many denominations and sects that started as early as the 11th century, Christ’s church was established on Pentecost in the first century. Our desire is to follow the lead of the New Testament church which was made up of individual congregations that were established through the Spirit of Christ and the prophetic guidance of the Apostles.
The Apostle Paul made reference to the churches in the New Testament while reaching out to several close brothers and sisters in Christ. He let them know, “All the churches of Christ send greetings” (Romans 16:16). His reference to the “churches of Christ” is where our heritage derives its name. Our passion is to reproduce the earliest picture of what the church looked like by following the lead of Christ, the Apostles, and the rest of God’s word to create a New Testament church worthy of the Kingdom.
